Learning is an activity that aims to develop students' creative thinking. Beyond thinking skills, other abilities can also grow during teaching and learning. Today, learning models are becoming more varied, for example online and offline learning. Let's look at their characteristics below!

Characteristics of Online Learning

Online learning (daring) is usually carried out remotely. With the help of technology, this model can be done from home without having to go to school to meet the teacher. Another characteristic of online learning is that students have flexible time to study.

With this flexibility, students are free to learn wherever and whenever they want, without being limited by space and time. Even though it is conducted online and at a distance, teachers and students can still interact at the same time. This is possible because technology continues to advance rapidly.

One example of technology used for learning is video calls or live chat. In addition, the technology can also display the teaching materials to be delivered to students during a video call or live chat. As a result, online and offline learning can run as it should.

Characteristics of Offline Learning

Unlike online learning, offline learning has one main characteristic: it is carried out offline, with no connection to the internet at all. In short, this learning takes place face to face. Students and teachers must gather at a certain place and time, which is another hallmark of offline learning.

Beyond that, the materials in online learning are usually provided as hard-copy files. Hard-copy materials given to students include worksheets, textbooks, photocopies, and so on. Online learning also allows students to communicate directly with teachers and other students.

Another characteristic is that offline learning has limits on time and place. Because of this, teaching and learning time can run efficiently, since students attend face-to-face lessons at the scheduled time. Once the lesson time is over, students can move on to other activities. Students can also meet other students at school.

Every learning model has its own distinctive features and strengths. With this in mind, a teacher can carry out teaching and learning according to a carefully designed plan. Through this planning, the goals of learning are expected to be met, as has been done at Sekolah Murid Merdeka.
