Self-Drive Car Rental (Lepas Kunci): 4 Key Benefits
Self-drive car rental, or lepas kunci, offers lower costs, more comfort, privacy and roomy cabins. Learn the key benefits and requirements to check.
Renting a car is often more efficient and practical than driving your own vehicle. Beyond saving a lot of energy on the road, renting can also be easier on your budget. Many types of cars are available under different rental methods, including lepas kunci (self-drive rental). Here is what it means and what it offers.
4 Benefits of Self-Drive Car Rental You Should Know
1. Lower travel budget
Lepas kunci is a rental system that does not include a driver. Few rental companies use this system today, mainly for safety reasons. However, a number of car rental providers still offer self-drive options. One key advantage is a lower travel budget.
Rental rates are typically lower because you do not pay for a driver. This makes self-drive rental a good fit if you want a comfortable trip without a high budget. Certain terms and conditions apply, however, and you must meet them first.
2. Comfort without a driver
Comfort is a major advantage of self-drive rental. It suits anyone who does not want a stranger in the car during the trip. You and your family can relax behind the wheel, and you are free to stop wherever you like.
3. Greater privacy
Beyond comfort, privacy is another benefit of the self-drive method. If you and your family feel uneasy with a stranger along for the journey, this option is a good choice. You will not feel awkward discussing personal matters during the trip.
4. More spacious cabin
Homecoming trips (mudik, the annual trip home for Eid) or journeys that involve a lot of luggage can be uncomfortable with a driver. A driver also takes up cabin space. Without one, you can use the extra room for your belongings when needed. Mudik becomes more comfortable.
Although self-drive rental is comfortable, there are several things to consider. The most important are the terms and conditions. You must provide the required documents and be willing to be surveyed. This helps avoid unwanted issues during the rental process.
