Types of Cargo Shipping Based on Transportation Mode
Compare cargo shipping by truck, ship, express train and air freight, including speed and cost differences across each transport mode for your goods.
Cargo shipping services are now widely available across Indonesia. Many companies, from long-established names to newcomers, have entered the market. As more providers emerge, shipping large goods becomes much easier for Indonesians.
Large goods, however, need ample space and the right transport to move safely. That is why I will discuss the types of cargo shipping based on the transport mode used for each shipment.
Shipping Goods by Truck
Trucks are one of the transport modes used for cargo shipping. Goods sent by truck usually travel by land, a process commonly known as trucking.
However, if you are under tight time pressure, you may want to avoid trucks. Truck deliveries cannot be rushed. They depend on the driver's condition, the condition of the truck fleet, and road traffic. But if time is not a major concern, trucks are a suitable choice.
Shipping Goods by Ship
The second type of cargo shipping is by ship. If you choose this option, expect delivery to take the longest of all transport modes, and timing and speed will be far less predictable. Even so, shipping by sea is generally the cheapest option.
Shipping by Express Train
The next option is the express train. This is well suited to those who are racing against time.
Shipping by Plane
Finally, cargo shipping by plane (air transport) is the last option. Timing and speed are excellent, except on certain dates such as major religious holidays and national holidays. This is the most expensive option compared with other types of shipping.
