Wirjono Prodjodikoro

Wirjono Prodjodikoro is known as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1952 to 1966. He stated that health insurance is an agreement involving two parties: the insured (tertanggung) and the insurer (penanggung). The insurer promises to cover losses caused by uncertain and unexpected events. The insured's responsibility is to pay the premium every month.

A. Hasymi Ali

A. Hasymi Ali is an insurance figure who also published the book Pengantar Asuransi (Introduction to Insurance). On health insurance, he explained that it is an agreement in which the insurer is bound to the insured. In this case, the insurer receives premiums from the insured in exchange for compensating the risk it has taken on when an event occurs.

Ktut Silvanita Mangani

The next definition comes from Ktut Silvanita Mangani, an author of economics books. She describes health insurance as coverage that protects against healthcare costs, which keep rising day by day. Therefore, health insurance, particularly for individuals, is quite expensive.

Indonesian Commercial Code (KUHD)

The Indonesian Commercial Code (Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Dagang, or KUHD) is one of the products of the Ministry of Finance. In line with its purpose, the KUHD also offers a view on health insurance: an agreement or contract in which the insurer receives a premium that binds it to the insured. Its aim is to release the insured from, and protect them against, losses caused by the loss or failure of an expected profit.

Law Number 2 of 1992

Law Number 2 of 1992 also provides another definition of health insurance: an agreement or contract made and accepted by two or more parties, in which the insurer or health insurance provider binds itself to the insured or insurance customer to receive insurance premiums.
